down here

A father was teaching his little boy how to shoot a basketball. The boy would throw the ball as hard as he could toward the basket, but the ball would fall short. The dad would effortlessly shoot the ball and say, “Just do it like this, son.” The boy would try and fail again. The father would show him once more. Finally the boy said, “It’s easy for you way up there. You don’t know how hard it is from down here!”

Sometimes we think of God that way. We imagine Him as being far away, and not understanding how hard life can be for us.

Ah, but let us not forget that God has been “down here,” and the Bible says that Jesus was tempted (or tested) in all of the ways we are.

So, the next time we start to think of God as being “somewhere out there”, let’s remember that He’s also been right here. 🙂
