God’s character

God’s character

The Bible says in Psalm 9:10 that “Those who know your name will trust in you.” This scripture is talking about more than knowing how God would like to be referred to… it talks about knowing God’s character. In a prayer to God Almighty, King David was proclaiming that those who know your character will trust in you.

Today many people struggle to trust God. Perhaps they violently debate God’s goodness, or maybe they have decided that they need to be self-sufficient because they feel as if there is nothing trustworthy in life. Most likely they have heard the name of God, but they have never experienced his character. God is loving and compassionate. He is slow to anger and abounding in grace. He doesn’t choose to do good…he is good. He doesn’t choose to love…he is love.

It may sound simplistic to say it, but it doesn’t make it any less true. Because of His character…because of who He is at His core…you can trust Him.
