back to school: possible with God

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”
~ Luke 1:37 ESV

An important distinction about the promise in this verse is that it doesn’t simply state that nothing is impossible. Without God, impossibilities not only exist but abound.

The verse also doesn’t say, “Things will never look, feel, or seem impossible.” A situation may catch us completely off guard. It may last longer than we thought, with many unexpected turns along the way.

At the risk of sounding trite, if we had all of the answers, when would we ever need faith?

In our struggles, we can take heart that, because Jesus knows how overwhelming circumstances can be for us, He shared the specific truth in Luke 1:37. It reminds us to shift our focus from whatever is going on around us to the only place where anything – even the redemption of absolutely anyone’s story – is possible: with God!

And as we exercise our faith, it grows.

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.'”
~ Mark 10:27 ESV
